Freelance Social Media Strategist

We are seeking a Freelance Social Media Strategist to define and execute a high-level social growth strategy. The role focuses on audience development, content strategy, short-form video, and paid social recommendations across Instagram, TikTok, and other relevant platforms. Paid media is included but secondary to building an authentic, engaged community and brand identity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an audience growth strategy across Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms
  • Advise on content pillars, themes, and positioning for a distinctive social brand
  • Recommend Reels and short-form video strategies, including content cadence and formats
  • Build and manage community engagement initiatives and creator/fan partnerships
  • Provide high-level paid media recommendations (Meta Ads, TikTok, YouTube) aligned with brand growth
  • Define target audiences and advise on segmentation and growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with the filmmaker and internal teams to align social strategy with broader brand objectives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in audience growth, social media strategy, and paid media for entertainment, media, or creator-led brands
  • Expertise with Instagram, TikTok, Meta (Facebook), and short-form video content
  • Strong understanding of community building and creator engagement
  • Ability to operate independently as a freelance consultant while providing strategic guidance
  • US-based or strong knowledge of the US film and entertainment audience preferred

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking to appoint two Trustees to join its Board and contribute to the strategic oversight, governance and long-term sustainability of the organisation.

This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven organisation operating within a dynamic and evolving environment. Trustees will help ensure the organisation maintains strong governance while supporting innovation, responsible growth and long-term impact.

The organisation is particularly interested in individuals who see governance as an enabler of progress rather than a barrier to innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the organisation
  • Support effective oversight of risk, compliance and organisational performance
  • Provide constructive challenge and independent judgement
  • Help ensure the organisation operates in line with its charitable objectives and governance responsibilities
  • Support the long-term sustainability and institutional development of the organisation
  • Contribute expertise, insight and professional experience to Board discussions
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation where appropriate

Candidate Profile

  • Understanding of governance, accountability and organisational oversight

Desirable Experience

For one Trustee appointment, a background in legal, regulatory or governance matters would be highly desirable.

For another Trustee appointment, a background in finance, accounting, investment oversight or financial governance would be highly desirable.

Additional experience that may be valuable includes:

  • Charities, foundations or philanthropic organisations
  • International operations or governance
  • Risk management or institutional development
  • Commercial, technology or investment-related sectors

Working Arrangement

  • Remote
  • Approx. 1 day per month, with occasional additional time for Board meetings and strategic input
