• Own the end-to-end design process for features – from discovery and wireframing through high-fidelity Figma design and final implementation in React/TypeScript.

• Build and maintain a design system and component library, using shadcn/ui variants and a dedicated component package with documented permutation coverage.

• Write accessible, production-quality React components, ensuring correct ARIA, keyboard, and focus management.

• Collaborate with PMs and engineers during discovery to ensure designs are user-centered and technically feasible.

• Define and enforce visual and interaction design standards; audit and drive consistency across the product.

• Own and evolve our AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Pulumi Cloud – treating infrastructure as a product that engineering teams depend on.

• Design and maintain internal developer tooling and libraries that standardize how we build and ship – code generation, shared SDKs, data access patterns, and service scaffolding.

• Create and maintain golden paths for common workflows (new service setup, background jobs, event streams, APIs) so teams can ship quickly with built-in security and observability (and consistent defaults across services).

Youll build systems, guardrails, and tooling that catch issues early, make secure defaults easy, and help engineers move fast and sleep at night. This is an IC role with broad scope – youll work across application security, infrastructure security, compliance, and internal tooling. • Conducting a comprehensive threat model of our application and infrastructure layers, identifying the highest-leverage gaps and building a pragmatic remediation roadmap.

• Hardening our AWS infrastructure – IAM least-privilege, secrets management, network segmentation, CloudTrail audit coverage, and GuardDuty alerting – while keeping developer workflows frictionless.

• Building secure-by-default patterns and libraries (authn/authz helpers, input validation, secure logging/redaction) so teams dont have to reinvent security per service.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead and drive Loancrates security posture across application security, cloud security, identity, and compliance – partnering closely with engineering and leadership.

• Perform regular threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing – and work directly with engineering to remediate findings fast.

Tech Stack

Nearly all of our code is written in TypeScript. We use React on the frontend, Node/Express on the backend (running inside Docker), GraphQL/Apollo on both sides, and Postgres as our database. We use AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, Kafka, ElasticSearch, and more) and manage all of our infrastructure with Terraform.

We believe that high engineering velocity drives high product velocity (and, in turn, our success as a company). Keeping this in mind, we’ve invested heavily in creating a great developer experience that enables engineers to ship fast. Some highlights of our stack:

• End-to-End Type Safety – We generate TypeScript types from our Postgres and GraphQL schemas so that when we change our database schema we see type errors in any incompatible frontend React components.

• Full-Stack Code Sharing – Our build tooling supports seamless sharing of TypeScript files between the client, server, and other packages in our mono-repo so that we never have to define functions or configuration values twice.
